Livre des Images

The “Livre des Images” is a series of more than 200 drawings arranged into 13 chapters, drawn at the Cité international des arts in Paris. It opens with a stroll through the Louvre, and afterwards we follow the main character, a nobody, through supermarkets, indoor swimming pools, movie theaters and restaurants. And images by the painter Andrea Mantegna, whom we encountered in the beginning at the Louvre, keep reappearing throughout. The materials used were a pen, a little pot of ink, a stack of A4 paper and the Xerox machine at a paper shop on Rue Malher that I frequented several times a day for months. The “Livre des Images” celebrates the beauty of the world, despite the last chapter taking place in a hospital.
